I am very excited and thankful to the school board and many others that made the plan that was started four years ago to rebuild the 7th grade science lab a reality. This is my third year in my new lab which is filled with technology, student friendly flexibility, and space...lots of space to explore in.
I would also like you know a few things about me. I am married and have three children, two dogs, and a cat. I have been teaching for 17 years and have a masters in teaching leadership, plus I’ve completed 36 additional graduate hours in technology education.
As your child’s teacher, I believe that the goal of every child’s education is to enhance lifetime learning, praise success, and help each student prepare for high school Biology at LHS.
Students should be able to explore their passions and find their place in the world before they enter high school. They should be allowed to value their individuality and uniqueness. Too many students today blindly go through school with the concept of the grade as the goal instead of the grade being the effortless reflection of their desire to learn. If a student does their very best, that is the greatest achievement, not the students shortcoming.
Just like the flower, students come to us in 7th grade with many petals which reflect their past growth. Those petals have been nourished by past learning experiences and teachers, but now they are getting ready to bloom. Welcome to my classroom, I hope I will help you find your own uniqueness.
